ABOUT US

Cassaundra Bess, LCSW has been a clinical therapist for over 10 years. She received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Brigham Young University and her Masters from the University of Denver with an emphasis in working with at-risk youth. She spent 7 years as a staff therapist at Alpine Academy, a residential treatment center for teen girls. Since becoming a mom she has focused on private practice work, where she empowers families to build better relationships.

Dustin Bess developed a passion for helping parents while working with the youth and children at the Utah State Hospital, and later within the Juvenile Justice System. Since that time he has sought after every book, audio program and online resource he can get his hands on, to learn how to become a better parent.

THE WHY

We are passionate about helping empower parents as their strive to build and maintain positive connection in their relationships with their teenagers. Connection is a major protective factor against suicide and addiction. We want to support parents as they learn to better understand, connect and support their teens in managing difficult emotions. We also want to support parents as they work through their own journey of processing through the many emotions that come along with parenting teens.

We desire to help parents feel the sense of internal peace that comes as they are able to refocus their efforts on what they can control. We want to help parents create an enlightened vision of how they want to parent and feel in their parenting, despite how their teenagers might respond.  We feel strongly that as parents work from an emotionally mindful and empathic place, that they will be able to have more internal peace, effectiveness and confidence as a parent.
